Pickled ginger recipe for weight loss
Ready-made ginger in vinegar is sold in regular stores and sushi bars, but many housewives prefer to prepare it themselves at home. It is better to take a proven recipe as a basis; it contains the following ingredients:
- fresh ginger – 400 g;
- rice or apple cider vinegar 9% – 100 g;
- beets – 100 g;
- water – 200 g;
- pepper - to taste;
- salt and sugar - 0.5 teaspoon each.
The process is very simple and does not require special culinary skills. It is divided into stages:
- Ginger and beets are washed and peeled.
- Cut into thin layers 1-2 mm thick using a grater, vegetable slicer or a simple knife.
- Vinegar and spices are mixed in a saucepan and brought to a boil.
- The slices are folded tightly into a jar and filled with marinade.
- Close the container tightly and wait 2-3 days until ready.
You can prepare it without beets, but then the appetizer will not be the usual pink or red color that you are used to seeing on store shelves. It is believed that in this form it looks more attractive and tastes good. After preparation, the product should be stored in the refrigerator for no more than 5 days. It's better to cook in small portions.
Homemade way to pickle ginger
The easiest way is to go to the store, buy the root in a ready-made marinade and eat it in small quantities for your health. You can make pickled ginger at home yourself. This is not difficult to do. Moreover, finding a recipe for pickled ginger is not a problem.
All we need:
- 300-400 grams of fresh ginger root;
- A teaspoon is enough salt;
- granulated sugar - one and a half tablespoons;
- You will need no more than one hundred milliliters of rice vinegar.
We peel the ginger with a knife. To cut our root into thin slices, it is more convenient to take a vegetable cutter. If there is none, you can do this with a sharp knife. But the thinner the slices, the tastier.
Place all the cuts in a bowl, sprinkle with salt and mix. Cover with a lid and leave for an hour.
While the ginger is simmering with salt, we are preparing the future marinade. Pour the vinegar into a saucepan, add sugar and gradually heat over low heat. Stirring is a must, it’s better to do it constantly.
When everything is cooked, squeeze out the excess water from our ginger slices and transfer them to a container, it is better to take a glass jar or ceramic dish. The lid must close tightly.
Pour the hot marinade into the ginger and let it sit on the table for a while. After the contents of the jar have cooled, place it on the refrigerator shelf.
Pickled ginger acquires its pink color during the process. To make it even richer, you can put a couple of beet slices in the jar or add its juice. Then the color of ginger will become bright, with a slightly burgundy tint. True, the root will not acquire additional properties, but it will definitely not become less useful.
This is not the only pickled ginger recipe. There are quite a lot of them, but the technology is approximately the same everywhere. According to some recipes, you not only need to pour the marinade into the root, but let them boil together for half an hour. Cool and transfer to a jar.
It doesn’t matter how you pickled the ginger - after eight hours it will be ready in any case. It can be stored in the refrigerator for a very long time - at least four months. Therefore, you can safely marinate it at home for future use.
How to take pickled ginger for weight loss
The product is not suitable as a stand-alone weight loss product. It is recommended to use pickled ginger on a diet after meals to reduce appetite and speed up the elimination of fat. You can eat it for lunch and dinner, or add it to salads. Ginger goes well with low-calorie diets - meat, fish, protein, vegetables, cottage cheese.
If a person feels the urge to have a snack 1-1.5 hours after a meal, nutritionists advise satisfying hunger with a ginger slice. In this case, calorie content will not affect weight, and it will be easier to adhere to the nutritional system. Along with the product, you need to drink a sufficient amount of clean water - at least 2 liters per day. If there is a lack of fluid, waste will be retained inside the body, and problems with stool will arise.
Pickled Ginger Recipe
Cooked ginger according to this recipe has a slightly sour taste. This is due to the high vinegar content in the marinade. By the way, vinegar helps reduce body weight, as well as total fat in general.
Even a study was conducted in 2009 regarding the effects of vinegar. It has been found that regular use leads to a decrease in overall body weight. The waist circumference and the amount of fat in general also decreases. In the experiment, the subjects consumed 15 ml of vinegar daily.
Therefore, pickled ginger alone cannot produce the same effect. It should be added to dishes along with vinegar marinade.
To prepare this fat burner you will need:
- 100 g ginger root;
- ½ tbsp. spoons of salt;
- 2-3 tbsp. spoons of sugar;
- 100 ml apple or rice vinegar.
Remove the skin from the root and cut it into thin slices using a vegetable peeler. Next, sprinkle the pieces with salt and leave while we prepare the marinade.
In a separate bowl, mix vinegar, sugar and a pinch of salt. Place the mixture on the fire and cook until the sugar and salt dissolve.
We return to the ginger plates - rinse them from salt and add them to the prepared marinade. Cook the root pieces in this brine for 25-30 minutes over low heat. This will give the plates a more desired texture. Transfer the finished ginger into a clean jar along with the marinade.
Then add a small piece of fresh beets to the jar with the snack. It will color the ginger a soft pink color and remove its excessive pungency. I recommend storing the delicious treat in the refrigerator. And after 5 hours you can try the dish
