How to lose weight on a watermelon diet - rules, menus, reviews

In summer, a watermelon diet is ideal for weight loss. It is effective, easy to perform, and almost everyone loves the sweet taste of the aromatic pulp. There are thousands of rave reviews about the diet with impressive results. This is confirmed by before and after photos, because some lose weight by several kg. Losing weight in such an unusual way will definitely not be monotonous and boring if you create for yourself the right balanced menu for every day.

The benefits of watermelon for weight loss

Watermelon is a real storehouse of microelements. The juicy, sweet pulp contains a huge amount of mineral compounds (phosphorus, potassium, sodium, iron) and vitamins of groups A, B, E, PP, C. In terms of calorie content, the fruit is considered dietary: 100 g contains no more than 40 kcal. At the same time, the sugars contained in the pulp are completely processed by the body and are not stored in fat reserves. This is one of the main reasons why watermelon is so loved by those who are losing weight. In addition to this miraculous property, weight loss occurs for several other reasons:

  • most of the pulp is water (about 85-90%) with minerals and vitamins dissolved in it;
  • due to the diuretic ability, excess fluid stagnant in the body is actively released, thereby reducing body weight;
  • the liquid removes waste, toxins and other harmful compounds;
  • cellular metabolism improves due to folic acid contained in the pulp;
  • the feeling of fullness appears quickly due to the sweet taste.

The glycemic index of watermelon is 72 units, and 100 g of pulp contains only 5.8 g of carbohydrates.

What are the benefits of a watermelon diet?

Watermelon consists of water and fiber. There is nothing in it that would contribute to gaining kilograms. Eating only watermelons is like eating water. And the liquid is known to be very useful for weight watchers. Our body consists of water, so it is important to monitor your water balance. This is exactly what watermelon helps do. It relieves swelling, normalizes the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract, removes excess fluid, and with it waste and toxins.

The calorie content of the berry is very low - only 27 calories per 100 g . At the same time, watermelon promotes rapid saturation. What is important is that it has a very pleasant taste. It will be an excellent dietary food even for those with a sweet tooth. And on a hot summer day, the striped berry will refresh and quench your thirst.

And most importantly, watermelon contains a huge amount of useful substances . It contains a lot of magnesium, potassium, vitamins B and A, ascorbic acid, vitamin PP. And the antioxidant lycopene, which is also found in the pulp of this delicious berry, has an anti-cancer effect.

Diet principles

Because of the above abilities, watermelon quickly found use in weight loss. Based on it, diets designed for 3, 5, 10 days have been developed. Nutritionists recommend arranging fasting days once or twice a week, this helps to lose a couple of kilos before some significant event. If you want to achieve more radical changes in weight, then you will have to adhere to a certain diet for at least a week. When the desired result is achieved, you need to exit the watermelon diet gradually and correctly so as not to encounter weight gain.

The main principle of the watermelon diet is its diuretic effect. Daily fluid loss ranges from 1 to 2 liters. Every day you can lose 1-1.5 kg, depending on your initial body weight, level of physical activity and lifestyle. However, we must not forget that losing weight on watermelons is a mono-diet, which means that during the day you may feel weak, slightly dizzy and drowsy. If your condition only gets worse every day, and you feel that you don’t have enough strength and there is no surge of energy, then you need to stop losing weight.

Watermelon diet for weight loss: basic rules

The watermelon diet suggests you lose at least 10 kg in two weeks (or 15 days).

The rules of the diet are simple: during this time you can only eat the pulp of a ripe watermelon, and also drink clean water. It looks very simple, and taking into account the fact that watermelon is traditionally considered a summer-autumn Russian delicacy, and many perceive it as a taste of childhood, it is very easy to be tempted by this diet.

How much watermelon to eat per day? Different sources provide different data. The most common recommendation is to eat 1 kg of watermelon pulp for every 10 kg of weight. That is, if you weigh 60 kg, then this is quite realistic. But if you have a lot of excess weight, for example, 110 or 120 kg, then you may not physically be able to handle that much watermelon in a day.

Another common recommendation is to eat 1.5-2 kg of watermelon per day. This is more like the truth, but it seems to me that the truth is somewhere in the middle. You need to eat enough to feel full.

Prohibited and permitted products

In addition to watermelon, you can include in your daily diet other products listed in the list:

  • fresh and boiled vegetables;
  • greenery;
  • fermented milk products with a low fat content;
  • lean fish;
  • lean red meat;
  • chicken breast, turkey;
  • cereals;
  • fruits, mostly unsweetened;
  • nuts;
  • chicken and quail eggs;
  • whole wheat bread;
  • honey (in small quantities).

Of the prohibited foods, nutritionists advise avoiding:

  • sausages, smoked meats;
  • canned food;
  • pickles;
  • fast food products (hot dogs, pizza, hamburgers, noodles);
  • milk chocolate;
  • Sahara;
  • carbonated drinks;
  • cocoa;
  • compotes, fruit drinks;
  • sweets;
  • baked goods and white bread.

The diet should be varied, then you will feel great and there will be no malaise. Every day you need to consume about 1300-1500 kcal.

Principles and benefits of the watermelon diet

During a diet, watermelon helps not only eliminate excess weight, but also remove excess fluid from the body. Watermelon contains antioxidants, water, glucose, minerals, pectin and alkaline substances, fiber, proteins and vitamins A, C, B. All this has a positive effect on the body. You can quickly lose weight by eating watermelon if you follow certain rules during your diet. Firstly, you are not allowed to eat at night. Secondly, you should not eat fried foods, baked goods and sweets. Otherwise, the diet will go down the drain.

The watermelon diet is usually practiced in late August - early September. At other times, you risk purchasing a “bad” watermelon, which will only harm your health. The duration of the watermelon diet depends directly on the number of kilograms that you want to lose in the process of losing weight.

The benefits of the watermelon diet are as follows:

  • You don't have to stand at the stove every day and cook your own breakfast, lunch and dinner. You just need to cut a couple of slices of watermelon for breakfast and that’s it;
  • This method has a minimal list of contraindications, although it still needs to be carefully studied;
  • Eating watermelons every day is a real pleasure, and if it also helps you lose weight, then you will get double pleasure after finishing the diet;
  • This technique is highly tolerable, the berry is rich in fructose and glucose, which will support the brain and prevent headaches from developing, and they are one of the main obstacles to weight loss;
  • Only healing fasting will help you lose weight as quickly as possible, but it is not acceptable before the holidays, since it requires a special menu at the exit, incompatible with a buffet;
  • The striped berry removes excess fluid from the body;
  • Such a diet does not require large financial investments;
  • Cleanses the body of alcohol radicals and various intestinal infections;
  • Watermelon significantly stimulates the urinary system;
  • Saturates the body with various microelements;
  • Reduces the risk of cancer cells.

Do not forget that a watermelon diet for weight loss puts a serious strain on the urinary system, leads to an increase in appetite and does not saturate the body with essential fatty acids. And for diabetics, it is important to control the dynamics of changes in blood glucose levels, since watermelons are rich in this element.

Note! In order to prevent dehydration while losing weight, you need to drink at least 1.5 liters of water per day, and you can also drink herbal tea without sugar.

In the process of losing weight, you will not only lose excess weight, but also cleanse your intestines of various external substances. If we talk about other diets, they can be fraught with constipation, but watermelon removes almost all the excess that our body accumulates. Both tasty and healthy.

Watermelon diet rules

Losing weight will happen effectively if you take into account several factors and follow them impeccably:

  • Be sure to add protein foods to your daily diet. They will help maintain a feeling of fullness for a long time, and the energy supply will be replenished;
  • drink at least 1.5 liters of clean, plain water. For drinks, you can drink green tea or non-mineral water;
  • give up harmful foods: fast food, sweets are now prohibited for you;
  • Avoid drinking alcohol. Losing weight and alcoholic drinks are incompatible things. Any drinks containing alcohol, even in low concentrations, lead to an exacerbation of hunger and water retention in the body;
  • The maximum time for losing weight on a watermelon diet should not exceed more than 10 days. Then you need to take a short break, for about a month. After the break, you can resume eating.

The result of the watermelon diet can range from 2 to 6 kg in 7-10 days of its use. In addition to the newfound slimness and lightness in your body, you will be able to save money, because during the summer season, sweet fruits are sold at every turn and are inexpensive.

On a note! One of the disadvantages of the watermelon diet is the resulting deficiency of fats and proteins.

Reviews about the watermelon diet

Marina writes: you can lose weight if you arrange fasting days on watermelon at least once a week. I ate watermelon pulp and rye bread, and in the end I managed to lose only 300 g in a day. To be honest, I was counting on a more impressive result.

Elena writes: the watermelon diet is my favorite. I tolerate it very well. I eat 4-5 kg of pulp per day, the weight comes off very quickly.

Kirill writes: the watermelon diet is an excellent option for a fasting day. However, watermelon removes a lot of fluid from the body, which can lead to dehydration. In addition, not only fat reserves will be burned, but also muscles.

Anastasia writes: I have been following various diets for a long time and I can say with confidence that the watermelon diet is one of my favorites. It is very easy to carry, it allows you to thoroughly cleanse the body. Harmful substances begin to be released approximately a couple of days after the start of the diet, and then the process of active breakdown of fats begins. Previously, I only lost weight with watermelon, but then I learned that you can diversify the menu with other ingredients and also lose weight. Therefore, now I supplement my diet with vegetables, especially beets (you need to be prepared for the urine to turn pink). I also eat boiled meat, fish, and mushrooms. I give up bread and sugar altogether. It will be difficult to maintain a watermelon diet for a long time, but I can do it for 7-8 days. During this time, it is possible to bring the metabolism back to normal. I do not recommend sticking to the diet for longer, as it can harm the body. If you suddenly feel discomfort, then you should stop the diet!

Milana writes: I can safely call this diet heavenly. I often use it for fasting days. I’m so full of watermelon that I can’t even move, but half an hour later I want to repeat my feast. Therefore, it is better to purchase two juicy fruits in advance so as not to remain hungry in the evening. If it is difficult to withstand 3 days without a break, then you can do 2-3 fasting days a week with an interval of 1-2 days. On other days, you just need to stick to proper nutrition.

Svetlana writes: I suffer from chronic pyelonephritis, so the watermelon diet is a real salvation for me. My doctor advised me to lean heavily on this berry, but only during the season. Of course, finding quality watermelons is a problem. For example, that year I even got poisoned from watermelons. After that I couldn’t look at them for the whole summer! This year I will repeat my diet again: I will eat only this berry for 3 days, and then I will add vegetables, cereals, fish and chicken to the menu. With the help of the watermelon diet, I am not trying to lose weight, I just want to improve my health.

Elina writes: in order to lose a few extra pounds, the watermelon diet is very suitable. But you should start practicing it no earlier than August. On weekdays I eat tea and cottage cheese for breakfast (sometimes an omelet). I have chicken or boiled fish for lunch, and for dessert I always eat a portion of watermelon. I have dinner with vegetables and watermelon. On weekends, I eat as much watermelon pulp as possible, because it produces a diuretic effect, which is not very convenient at work. My husband supports me on this diet, but he eats much more meat. I think that I won’t be able to lose 10 kg in a week, but I don’t strive for such an active process of losing weight.

Quitting the diet

In order for the positive effect of the watermelon diet to last as long as possible, you need to exit it carefully. Diet restriction awakens a sharp appetite and craving for prohibited foods. But here you need to show fortitude and not give in to attraction. Tips from nutritionists will help you avoid breakdowns and keep your figure in order:

  • return to your usual diet gradually, increase the portion size slightly;
  • in the first days, eat porridge cooked in water with added butter and kefir with a fat content of 2.5%;
  • include bean pastes and porridges in your diet;
  • increase the number of meals up to 6-7 times.

But what you should never do is throw yourself on sweets, buns and other unhealthy foods. You will not only ruin the achieved result, but also get an upset stomach.

Diet for the treatment of coxarthrosis

Treatment of arthrosis involves proper nutrition. Since coxarthrosis is directly related to obesity. It is worth excluding fast carbohydrates. Even some cereals should be put on the shelf.

Absolutely not

Fast food, smoked foods, pickles, fatty fish, red and black caviar - you will have to give up all of this. Sweets, pastries, cakes, and fried foods are also prohibited.

Salt intake should be limited. Do not add salt to soups or other hot dishes during cooking. After serving, you can, but not more than one teaspoon per day. Of course, we exclude products containing a large amount of salt. This includes canned food, cheeses, sausages, salted nuts and crackers, chips and all kinds of sauces.

It is highly undesirable to consume animal fats. You can replace them with two tablespoons of unrefined vegetable oil (per day).

So, during treatment we completely exclude:

  • Sweet dough.
  • Confectionery products containing cream.
  • Candies.
  • Creamy desserts.
  • Chocolate and nut butters.
  • Chocolate butter.
  • Ice cream.
  • Cornflakes.
  • Salty snacks.
  • Sweet drinks.
  • Beer.
  • Strong alcohol.

Remember that the rate at which your condition gets worse depends greatly on what you eat. Even if the diet helped, you should not return to your usual lifestyle, since excess weight will return along with it.

Can be consumed

The basis of the diet is fruits and vegetables, which should be eaten fresh, as this is how they retain their beneficial properties. Legumes, which contain a lot of fiber and vegetable protein, are also important.

Main products that are allowed to be consumed:

  • Fresh vegetables.
  • Fruits and berries.
  • Fish and seafood.
  • Legumes.
  • Lean meat.
  • Bran and some seeds.
  • Soups with vegetable broth.
  • Rye bread or with bran.
  • Cereals.
  • Nuts.
  • Mineral water

First of all, you should pay attention to foods with a low glycemic index, which will form the basis of our diet in the treatment of coxarthrosis of the hip joint. Products with a low glycemic index help suppress hunger for a long time and are also an effective prevention of obesity.

These are mainly vegetables: zucchini, asparagus, lettuce, green peas, cucumber, tomatoes, celery, bell peppers, broccoli, green beans, spinach, radishes, eggplant and various varieties of cabbage.

Also pay attention to products containing large amounts of pectin - currants, apples, strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries, strawberries and plums. Consuming pectin quickly leads to a feeling of fullness that can last about 4 hours. Pectin has a positive effect on digestion, normalizes intestinal microbiocenosis, destroying harmful bacteria and increasing the number of beneficial microflora.

For grade 2 coxarthrosis, the main emphasis should be on cereals, fruits and vegetables, as this is necessary to nourish cartilage tissue.

Nuts containing antioxidants are also important - almonds, cashews, walnuts, pistachios and hazelnuts.

To maintain the water-salt balance, eat watermelon, cook squash, pumpkin and zucchini, and use fresh prunes and dried apricots as a substitute for sweets.

Meat dishes should be low in fat - chicken, turkey, rabbit, lean fish. Don't forget about dairy and fermented milk products (fat content up to 3.2%).

The most healthy cereals are oatmeal, buckwheat, brown or wild rice. Do not use them in flake form.

To dress salads, use unrefined vegetable oils: olive, cedar, corn or flaxseed.

Drink no more than one and a half to two liters of water per day. Once a week, you should arrange a fasting day, during which you eat one thing: cottage cheese, kefir or fruit.

Sample menu for the day

  • Breakfast

When treating coxarthrosis, you need a hearty and healthy breakfast. For example, you can cook an omelette with vegetables or oatmeal with dried apricots, or mix cottage cheese with fruit.

Drinks to consider include ginger or green tea and yogurt.

If you need a second breakfast before lunch, eat an apple.

  • Dinner

Traditionally divided into the first and second. Don't forget to prepare the salad.

The first is soups with vegetable broth. It is not forbidden to cook in chicken broth twice a week; the meat should be chosen without bones.

The second is vegetables and steamed chicken pieces.

Salad of vegetables, herbs or seaweed.

Drinks: compote, natural juice (diluted ½ with water).

  • Dinner

Have a light snack a few hours before bed. Steamed fish cutlets with vegetables are allowed. Boiled fish would also be a good option. Vegetable salad. The best thing is cottage cheese seasoned with fruit.

Just before going to bed, it is advisable to drink a glass of kefir.

Positive effect on the body

Proper nutrition during the treatment of coxarthrosis of the hip joint has a positive effect on overall well-being. The whole point is that you limit simple carbohydrates and fats. As soon as your weight returns to normal, your legs will feel noticeably lighter. Add here physical therapy and drug therapy, and you will achieve amazing results in a couple of months. Joint pain will go away.

The main task is regular, proper nutrition, which cleanses the body and normalizes the functioning of the digestive tract.
As a result, a powerful, comprehensive healing effect is achieved. It is important to know that this diet will bring maximum effect at the initial stage. Since at the third stage of coxarthrosis of the hip joint the destruction is too active, diet cannot be considered as a driving therapeutic method. Contraindications

You can follow a watermelon diet only if you are confident in your health and there is no reason to worry. You should not restrict yourself in diet if you have the following problems:

  • stones in the kidneys;
  • diabetes;
  • gastrointestinal diseases;
  • pancreatic diseases;
  • liver disorders;
  • heart disease;
  • swelling of the limbs and soft tissues.

The diuretic effect and the ability to increase sugar make the watermelon diet for a certain category of people. Teenagers and children, as well as athletes and the elderly, should not lose weight in this way. Doctors do not recommend experimenting with your figure if you are pregnant, especially in the later stages, or are breastfeeding. Wait until the birth and breastfeeding stages are over before you can start losing weight.

Pros and cons of the watermelon diet

The main reason why we love the watermelon diet so much is its high effectiveness in a short time.

Another big advantage of the watermelon diet is its ease of tolerance. There will be practically no feeling of hunger, and if you don’t get tired of the monotony, everything will go fine.

No less important is that by eating watermelons, you enrich your body. Folic acid is one of the main “female” vitamins and beneficial microelements are not washed away, but, on the contrary, are supplied in large quantities. At the same time, waste and toxins are successfully removed - they are simply “washed away” by the watermelon.

Let's talk about the disadvantages. No matter how good the watermelon diet is, reviews indicate that it is not suitable for everyone. If you feel unwell in the first few days, it’s better to stop.

Contraindications for the watermelon diet

Such an experiment should be carried out with caution by those who have had problems with the gallbladder, kidneys, or urinary system as a whole, because watermelon is a strong diuretic. The watermelon diet is also not recommended for diabetics.

Reviews and advice from nutritionists

Marina Konstantinovna, nutritionist:

If you regularly experience problems with the digestive system, then such a diet will only cause you a lot of inconvenience: constipation, bloating will begin, and stomach pain will become more frequent. To eliminate such negative consequences, do not engage in amateur activities, but rather seek advice from your doctor. Most diseases at the initial stage occur without symptoms, and a watermelon diet can aggravate them. If you experience any discomfort, stop losing weight and visit a therapist.

Ekaterina Alexandrovna, nutritionist:

I can’t say that the watermelon diet is healthy and will bring stunning results. Any weight loss, especially drastic one, is stressful for the body. Along with lost weight comes a number of health problems, sometimes serious. My advice, if you decide to try to lose weight this way, make your diet as varied as possible. Add vegetables, cereals, cereals, white and red meat to it, eliminate refined sugar and other useless light carbohydrates. Reduce your portion size and exercise. These simple recommendations will have a positive effect on your body weight, and you will immediately notice how you lose weight.

The right way out of the diet

Let's figure out how to get out of the watermelon diet without causing harm to the body. It should be remembered that during this time (5-10 days) the body has become accustomed to this food and cannot suddenly switch to a stricter diet.

In addition, during this period the person lost significant weight (it can be up to 10 kg).

You need to consolidate your achievements, since the body is significantly hungry. If it is uncontrolledly saturated with nutrients, the weight will quickly return, and may even exceed previous levels.

To do this you need:

  • carefully plan your regular meals for 10 days;
  • every day the diet will be weakened, but it should be strictly adhered to;
  • at first, vegetable salads, porridge with water, cheese, lean fish and meat are good;
  • at this time you should continue to eat watermelon, but at the rate of 1 kg per 30 kg of body;

The transition to regular food may take up to two weeks. During this period, it is possible to still lose up to 10 kg of excess weight.

Remember your achievements, lead an active lifestyle and strictly monitor your diet.

Watermelon diet options

If you have no contraindications and are mentally determined to lose weight with the watermelon diet, then first choose a suitable main product - ripe watermelon. Buy it only from trusted places, and wash it well before use. Nutrients and vitamins are found only in mature fruits grown naturally, without the use of chemical fertilizers. There are 3 ways to lose weight: an express method for 3 days, a weekly diet and a 10-day option.

Menu for 3 days

The most common and easiest way to lose weight is to go on a watermelon diet for 3 days. This is not difficult at all, and the weight loss will be 2-3 kg. You should eat about 5-7 kg of watermelon pulp per day. The norm is calculated based on your initial weight: for every 10 kg, 1 kg of pulp is required. For example, your weight is 60 kg, which means you need to eat 6 kg of watermelon daily. In addition, your diet should consist of:

  • breakfast: oatmeal cooked in water, a slice of whole grain bread, a cup of tea;
  • lunch: 150 g of boiled chicken breast, a plate of vegetable salad;
  • dinner: 150 g low-fat cottage cheese.

About an hour before meals, eat watermelon. This will help fight off hunger, so during lunch or dinner you will eat less food.

Attention!

The last meal should be no later than 4 hours before bedtime. Do not eat watermelon at night: you will sleep poorly, and by the morning your whole face will swell.

Watermelon diet for 7 days, scheduled for every day

If you want to achieve significant weight loss, then the weekly option suggested in Table 1 will suit you.

Table 1 Watermelon diet for a week

6Rice porridge, boiled in water -150 gFish baked in the oven – 150 g200 g low fat cottage cheese
7A plate of oatmeal on the water2 hard-boiled eggsa couple of slices of whole grain bread with cheese

Before and during each meal, you should eat a few pieces of watermelon. The norm per day is 5 kg, divide this amount evenly throughout the day. As for drinks, you are allowed to drink a cup of black natural coffee without sugar and milk or green tea during the day, no more than a couple of cups.

For 10 days

If you wish, you can increase the watermelon diet by 10 days, but only if you feel great and have no health complaints. The menu completely coincides with the diet for the weekly version; if you wish, you can replace products, but only with similar calorie content. If you adhere to the described scheme and eat 4-5 kg of watermelon daily for 10 days, then after a while you will be able to get rid of 6-8 kg.

Attention!

With the 10-day watermelon diet, reduce physical activity, otherwise you risk “overloading” the body.

Watermelon diet during pregnancy

While carrying a child, the mother’s body must receive a sufficient amount of vitamins and microelements, which will allow the fetus to fully develop. Therefore, expectant mothers in the autumn can adhere to a watermelon diet, which makes it possible to replenish the deficiency of nutrients in the body. Another positive aspect of the watermelon diet for pregnant women is the ability to cleanse the intestines of toxins, as well as reduce swelling by removing excess fluid.

During the day, a woman will need to eat only watermelon, but not more than 5 kg per day. At the same time, you should carefully monitor your well-being. If the body does not give a negative reaction, then the technique can be continued.

Watermelon promotes increased urination. Therefore, you should not practice the diet for longer than 5 days. You can diversify your menu with rice (150 g per day), cottage cheese (200 g per day), rye bread (up to 3 pieces per day).

Menu for quitting the diet.

To ensure that the watermelon diet does not harm the health of the woman and child, it is necessary to exit it correctly. The exit must last at least 10 days.

For this purpose, you can use the following menu:

  • First meal: oatmeal porridge (serving 200 g), cheese 9% fat - 100 g.
  • Main meal: fish or chicken fillet (serving 200 g), vegetable salad: cucumber, carrots, cabbage (serving 150 g), cheese 9% fat - 50 g.
  • Last meal: 400 g of watermelon pulp.

Contraindications to the watermelon diet during pregnancy:

  • Last trimester of pregnancy.
  • Urolithiasis disease.
  • Diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.
  • High blood sugar.

Watermelon diet for urolithiasis

Urolithiasis requires compliance with certain nutritional rules. To effectively cleanse the kidneys of urate and oxalate stones, you can use a watermelon diet with black bread. It allows you to soften kidney stones and painlessly remove them naturally.

If a person decides to follow a watermelon diet and has urolithiasis, then he should consume about 2.5 kg of ripe pulp per day. You are allowed to supplement your diet with 2-3 slices of black bread. In addition, you should drink at least 2 liters of still water every day. The duration of the watermelon diet against the background of urolithiasis should not exceed a week (maximum 10 days).

During the diet, experts strongly recommend taking warm baths, which make it easier and faster to remove salts and sand. The maximum intensity of salt excretion is observed in the evening, between 17:00 and 21:00.

By adhering to a watermelon diet, you can ensure that the size of deposits in the bladder decreases or is completely removed from the body. After completing the diet, you should not eat heavy food. For 10 days you should eat porridge, lean meat, low-fat fish and cheese, berries, and vegetables. During dinner, you should give preference to watermelon pulp. This technique will allow you to consolidate the achieved result and additionally eliminate another 1-3 kg of excess weight.

It should be understood that treatment of urolithiasis is always associated with risks of complications. The fact is that with active flushing of the kidneys, there is a possibility that large stones may be dislodged. This can cause blockage of the ureter and an attack of renal colic. Sometimes this problem can only be dealt with surgically.

If a person has phosphate stones in his kidneys and bladder, then he is strictly prohibited from practicing the watermelon diet.

Pros of the watermelon diet:

  • The watermelon diet is easy to tolerate.
  • During the diet, it will be possible to cleanse the body of toxins and remove excess fluid.
  • Metabolism is significantly accelerated.
  • During the process of losing weight, a person will not experience a painful feeling of hunger.
  • The diet does not require significant financial investments.
  • In a short period of time you will be able to lose up to 10 kg of excess weight.

Cons of the watermelon diet:

  • Watermelon does not contain protein, so the body will suffer from a lack of it. In addition, the pulp of the fruit is not able to cover the daily human need for all vitamins and microelements.
  • Diet puts stress on the urinary system.
  • During a diet, the body experiences stress.

Contraindications.

Despite the fact that watermelon is a healthy berry that allows you to lose weight, if it is consumed in significant quantities, it can cause some harm to the body. For example, when combining watermelon with dairy products, increased gas formation and abdominal pain may occur. Therefore, if after starting the watermelon diet your health worsens, then it is best to abandon the experiment.

Direct contraindications to the watermelon diet are:

  • Kidney disease in acute or chronic form.
  • Diabetes.
  • The presence of large kidney stones.
  • Diseases of the pancreas and prostate gland.
  • Presence of intestinal adhesions.
  • Stomach and intestinal ulcers.
  • Enuresis.
  • Gastritis with high acidity.
